The inaugural F.I.M. World Sidecar Speedway Championship is to be held in Great Britain on the 12 August 2006.

Saturday 2nd July European Sidecar Speedway challenge, invitation have been sent out to the top European sidecar teams in Holland and Germany all the top British teams will be present @ Smallbrook stadium, Isle of Wight 19.30pm

The brand new eight round Wulfsport British Sidecar Speedway Championship,
also receiving assistance from Wightlink Car Ferries, got underway at the
beginning of May with the staging of the first round at Newport's
Hayley Stadium
 
Six tracks will stage rounds that will span the season and will involve the
top twenty crews in the country in this fast-growing branch of shale
racing involving the 1000cc three-wheeled monsters.

The series will reach its conclusion on the Isle of Wight in October
where double points will be available to all competitors.

T he massive incentive for those crews taking part in the series is
that, at the very least, the top eight finishers in the overall standings will
have their names put forward to compete in the inaugural F.I.M. World
Sidecar Speedway Championship to be held in Great Britain in August 2006.

Dates for the series are as follows:

1. Newport - May 1 at 2.30pm;
2. Swindon - May 15 at 6pm;
3. King's Lynn - May 21 at 7.30pm; * CANCELED BAD WEATHER*
4. Stoke - June 19 at 6pm;* CANCELED BAD WEATHER*
5. Somerset - August 12 at 7.30pm;
6. Isle of Wight - August 18 at 7.30pm;

* Isle of Wight – August 30 at 7.30pm* replace round 3

*Stoke – September 3 at 7.30pm* replace round 4
7. Swindon - October 2nd at 6pm;
8. Isle of Wight (Final round for double points) October 4 at 7.30pm.

Looking ahead to the series,  Isle of Wight co-promoter Martin Newnham,
who'll be competing himself said, "with the incentive of places being up
for gra
bs in next year's first ever world championship, it promises to be
highly competitive from start to finish."
